Mid-Year Check-In

When I originally envisioned this mid-year check-in, I pictured celebrating wins, analyzing losses and taking tangible steps to make the second half of the year even more meaningful and productive.

Well, the world has changed and so should our focus. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted everything from our health and homes to our jobs and finances.

So, let’s start this check-in with a simple question: How are you?

I will be the first to say, if you are still here, you are winning and have purpose to fulfill.

During this pandemic, we need to give ourselves a break. Don’t allow others to define where you “should” be or shame you for feeling the way you feel.

Many of us are working from home, and transforming our bedrooms, living rooms or kitchens into an office or studio isn’t easy. Having your children at home all day, every day when you are working – and even when you’re not – isn’t easy. Give yourself the mental space and room to go through this transition.

We all set and celebrate goals, especially when it comes to business. This month, I invite you to instead celebrate health and safety, two of our most basic needs.

I also encourage you to talk with friends, family members or a counselor about how you feel. The trauma of our current situation can weigh heavy on the heart. Remember: trauma doesn’t disappear. It can hide, but it always resurfaces, and maybe even in different aspects of life. Talk with someone you trust, and allow that person to walk with you on this journey. YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO THIS ALONE!

Sending Strength and Encouragement,

Kashonna Holland
